In http://codex.gallery2.org/index.php/Gallery2:faq#How_can_I_move_my_gallery_installation_from_one_server_to_another.3F on step 6 you should "change each database table name from lower case (e.g. g2_albumitem) to a case-sensitive name (in this example g2_AlbumItem)" if you move from windows to *nix. This script automates this a bit by renaming most known tablenames. (as per Gallery 2.2.5)
Note that the script used to be a PHP script, now it's plain SQL code.
