In my opinion, the users of a Gallery are not necessarily interested in choosing whether to build thumbnails at load or not. It might be confusing. Perhaps it could be an administrative setting. Serban
I agree that users are normally not interested in this. So this should maybe also go into the initially hidden advanced settings section? Jakob
At the upload lightbox we are limited to two levels of Gallery album structure by now. Please keep in mind that in huge and well structured Gallery installations there could be more levels. From my opinion it would be enough to select the existing target via one album-tree which is wide enough for large names and deep structures. This would be an advantage for longer album names too. As seen at the actual screenshot it is difficult for a user to distinguish between "Christmas20" and "Christmas20". Jens
That's probably true, that we would have to make the tree view bigger to allow for deeper album structure. However, I think in most cases you should already be at the right level in your structure, so you won't actually have to change anything. This is the case I'm focusing on to make it as easy and straightforward as possible. It should definitely be possible to change the location in the album structure, but that is a little less important. Therefore my design. --Jakob
As far as I know there's no way in plain HTML to allow the user to select multiple files to upload at once: multiple clicks are required, one per file. Also, the standard file browser does not easily display thumbnails, at least not on all platforms. Then, many people prefer to drag and drop from their desktop photo software, rather than have to switch views to use the file picker.
For all these reasons, I think a Java or Flash upload method remains a must.
