Backing up the g2data directory is not covered in the backup documentation. My actual issue is, can i leave the g2data/cache directory outside backups? Relating to that, I had difficulties in rebuilding all thumbnails etc. (see PS below) with the admin web interface. I believe I could have deleted cache files in g2data to let g2 to regenerate them as they are accessed.
PS.
Our gallery has >10 000 pictures; I had to surf and do that with links, firefox consumed too much memory.
